A Test of Faith

Well I stepped out on faith today after a long early morning with God. He has the tendency to wake me up in the wee hours of the night to have a chat. Of course some of my early morning thoughts were about whether or not I was prepared mentally, physically, financially, and spiritually for the new life that is about to enter into my world. I also had thoughts of okay, this is uncomfortable, are these pre-labor contractions?

Anyway, I spent about 3 ½ hours writing a letter to the leadership team of the children’s ministry. I let them in on a little secret of mine – well some may say that it’s not so much a secret. I told them that I wasn’t good at asking for help. But that it was time for me to do so.

At the Catalyst Conference – Rick Warren spoke about Moses. God asked Moses what he was holding in his hand. Moses replied that it was a staff. God then challenged Moses to throw that staff on the ground. Moses obeyed and was amazed by God’s miracle. (Turning the staff into a serpent) Moses then picked the serpent and it changed back into a staff. What I got from this illustration – whether Mr. Warren was going in this direction or not was – God is asking me what I have in my hands. For me that’s Children’s Ministry. He’s asking me to put it down, let go of it, so He can do miracles. So, I decided to put a call out to the Children’s Ministry leadership team – I’m letting go to allow God to work miracles through other people. I feel a huge load lifted off my shoulders and I’m anxiously awaiting to see how God is going to respond through others.

Catalyst 2nd Day Experience

The 2nd day was just as amazing as the first day. It was awesome to see God working through so many people and how each session built on top of the previous.

A "surprise" guest showed up: Wintley Phipps showed up and was just absolutely amazing. He sang "He's got the whole world in this hands" and his ever popular "Amazing Grace".

I love what Andy Stanley said about those who left early to beat traffic. They will never be able to experience what Wintley brought off the CD.

Andy closed the conference by challenges us to evaluate the systems in our churches or area of ministry. I'm so excited to see how God is going to move in and through the Children's Ministry at Barefoot after this conference.

It was a great experience mental and spiritually. However, my pregnant body didn't enjoy the long hours of sitting. My feet were so swollen. But that's small price to pay to have my flip flops blown away. I look forward to adding on to this conference by going to the Orange Conference.

I love working for God. He's the best boss I could ever have.

Catalyst 2007 - 1st Day Experience

Well, this was the first day of the Catalyst 2007 Leadership conference in Atlanta. Our day started when we woke up at about 4:45am to be at the Red Carpet event at 6:45am. Penny and I had a great first day. So it’s been a long day but what an awesome experience to worship and learn with 11,000 other attendees.

It was very exciting to see such a diverse group of people coming together to learn about being a Catalyst in their church, community, and in the Kingdom. There were older adults, high school kids, 20 somethings, 30 somethings, 40 somethings, there were familes (babies) all at this great experience.

There are a lot of wonderful resources for different areas of ministry. Some of which I have invested in. I’m so excited to share what God has laid on my heart for the Children’s Ministry at Barefoot.

The only downfalls are the eating arrangements and exit strategy at the end of the conference. Other than that, the worship is great, the speakers are great. We broke the Guinness Book of World record for the most bubbles blown and the most bubbles broken by a Frisbee.

The speakers were great this first day. Once I have the opportunity to get my notes together I will put another post out recapping the day.

Look forward to what tomorrow has in store. I’m praying that I’ll be able to sleep better tonight so that I can be energized for tomorrow’s activities.
